The art of ox horn inlay or hwagakjang is a pictorial art involving the inlaying of ox horn on wooden objects.  When ox horn is ground and polished it becomes very a thin, transparent sheet.  Its reverse side can then be painted with mineral colors or dyed.  It is then glued partially or fully over the surface of wooden objects.  Then the surface is lacquered.  Traditionally, ox horns are also burned or left natural to display their natural grain for decoration..  Han Chun Seep is a Korean cultural treasure in this art form.   We may visit his studio on this tour in 2010.
